Frequently Asked Questions
What is the TraderSpy Signals API?
A read-only REST API, JSON over HTTPS, for crypto futures research: AI trading signals with their outcomes and statistics, smart-money traders and their positions on Binance, Hyperliquid, Bybit and OKX, prices and candles, 19 technical indicators on up to 3 timeframes, funding rate and open interest, a market-wide screener and condition backtests.
Is it the same data as the MCP connector?
Yes. The API and the MCP connector run on the same services, so an endpoint answers exactly what its MCP tool answers (each endpoint below names its tool). MCP is for AI assistants; the API is for your own code.
Which plans include the API?
Every plan, the free plan too, each with its own number of calls a day (see the table above). API calls and MCP calls are counted separately.
How fresh is the data?
Prices and candles follow Binance USDⓈ-M futures in real time (the newest candle can still be open). Signals appear the moment they are published. Funding and open interest are at most 60 seconds old. Smart-money positions refresh every 5 to 15 minutes per exchange, the elite leaderboard once a day.
What happens when I reach my limit?
The API answers 429 daily_limit_reached with a Retry-After header; calls reset at 00:00 UTC. Past your plan’s requests per minute it answers 429 rate_limited until the next minute. Answers and limit refusals carry the X-RateLimit-* headers, so your code can pace itself.
Can I call the API from a web page?
Yes. /v1 answers CORS for every website, so a page can call it with fetch. A key in a page’s code is visible to its visitors: restrict it to your websites in the key’s settings and give it a daily cap, and keep a separate, IP-restricted key for your servers.
How do I keep a key safe?
Keep it in an environment variable or a secret manager, never in a URL or a repository. Restrict each key to the IP addresses of the servers that use it, or to your websites. If a key leaks, revoke it: the next request with it is refused. TraderSpy stores only a hash of each key.
Can a key reach my account?
No. A key reads public market data only. Your account, balances, chats, strategies, routines, connectors and everything personal stay out of the API, and no endpoint can place an order or move funds.
Can I use the data in my own app or bot?
Yes, for your own use: your apps, bots, dashboards and research. Reselling the data, republishing it as a feed, or using it to provide trading or investment services to others is not allowed (Terms of Use, section 13). Signals, statistics and backtests describe what already happened; they are not financial advice.
Is there an OpenAPI spec?
Yes: GET /v1/openapi.json, no key needed. Import it into Postman or Insomnia, or generate a client from it.
